Modeling and control of hybrid MR seat damper and whole body vibration evaluation for bus drivers

This paper describes the design, simulation, and performance evaluation of hybrid MR damper on quarter bus semi-active seat suspension coupled with human biodynamic model. Also, whole body vibration (WBV) exposures were evaluated based international standard ISO 2631 (1997), its parameters used to measure level discomfort for drivers. The was proposed enhance damping force within low current supplied achieve a fail-soft capability in case electrical failure. characteristics compared conventional by considering same size, materials, input. designed incorporated system lumped model, governing equations motion full model derived. Skyhook controller control amount be damper. controlled are uncontrolled two types road excitation. simulated results show that driver comfort improved skyhook than case. WBV showed can improve life from fairly uncomfortable little discomfort.
